Asian players dominated the T20 rankings this year. Pakistani openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam enjoyed their stay at the top until the arrival of Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar went past Rizwan and claimed the top spot in ICC T20 batters ranking. Moreover, Surya is the only batter year to score 1000 runs in the T20 internationals in a single calendar year. Rizwan missed out by mere runs and finished the calendar year with 996 runs.

Indian superstar, Suryakumar Yadav topped the list of players to score the most runs in T20 internationals in 2022. Surya enjoyed a dream run in 2022. After getting an opportunity too late, the Mumbai lad grabbed it with both hands. He performed brilliantly in Aisa Cup 2022 for India. Surya even ranked second on the list of most runs scored in the T20 World Cup. Moreover, he became the only Indian player to score 1000 runs in a single calendar year in T20 internationals. Surya added another feather to his cap when he dethroned Rizwan to become the World No. 1 T20 batter.

Mohammad Rizwan ranks second with 996 runs. Rizwan had already scored over 1000 T20 runs in 2021. He came close to that magical figure again this year but fell four runs short.

Indian stalwart, Virat Kohli, found back his lost form this year. He ended his century drought in Asia Cup against Afghanistan. After pulling off an enthralling win over Pakistan in the inaugural game of the T20 World Cup 2022, Virat Kohli finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer.
