India vs Windies: Kemar Roach to miss first Test

Roach flew back home due to death of his grandmother 

West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach will be unavailable for the first Test against India which begins on October 04. The senior fast bowler has flown back to his home town Barbados last week following the death of his grandmother and will not be returning to India before the first Test.

Roach will be back for the second Test 

West Indies coach Stuart Law updated the media about Roach’s unavailability for the first Test.

Law said that unfortunately Kemar is not back in the country yet, he’s had a bereavement in the family, unfortunately he’s had to go home in Barbados.

The West Indies coach revealed that Roach will be rejoining the squad halfway through the first Test match. Law expected the West Indies fast bowler to be back in the country and ready to go for the second Test.

Missing Kemar is a big hole: Law

Law admitted that West Indies will miss Kemar Roach in the first Test. He was all praise for the fast bowler and said that he is very experienced, has great skills. He added that Roach is one of their leaders in the group and he’s a big loss.

The first Test between India and West Indies will be played at Rajkot from October 04. The teams are scheduled to play two Tests.

The 30-year-old fast bowler is one of the senior members of the West Indies squad. Roach has featured in 48 Tests and has claimed 163 wickets at an average of 28.31.

And he is in good form in the recent times. In his last Test appearance, he routed Bangaldesh’s batting unit by picking up five wickets in just eight runs.

In the absence of Roach, Jason Holder will lead West Indies’ bowling unit. They also have Shannon Gabriel, Keemo Paul and Sherman Lewis as options in the pace bowling department.
