BAN vs IND: The time is ticking as India is all set to cross swords with Bangladesh in the white-ball as well as the red-ball series. The Rohit Sharma-led side has reached the country and has begun their preparation for the ODI series, which will be played between 4th December to 10th December. This tour also marks India’s first appearance in Bangladesh since 2015.

The first ODI between Bangladesh and India is just a day away from now. Both teams are undergoing practice sessions and are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations in the build-up to the first game.

But ahead of the first game, the hosts have suffered a major blow as skipper Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a groin injury. His absence will leave a massive void for Bangladesh as not only will miss their leader but they will also miss an experienced opener.

Tamim suffered a groin injury recently in the warmup game and went for scans. BCB was hopeful that he will gain full fitness ahead of the first game but he failed to recover, following which he was ruled out of the series.

Releasing the official statement, BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus said: “It is most unfortunate to lose Tamim to injury for this very important series, especially because under his captaincy the team has played some outstanding cricket in the last couple of years and he has been our most prolific batsman in this format.”

It remains to be seen if Tamim Iqbal attains full fitness ahead of the Test series or not.

BAN vs IND: Litton Das to captain Bangladesh in the ODI series against India

As Tamim Iqbal was ruled out of the ODI series against India, BCB has given the leadership role to Litton Das. Shakib Al Hasan was the front-runner to lead the side but it is learned that he declined the role, which made governing body make Iqbal their 15th ODI skipper.

Litton had earlier led Bangladesh in the T20I series against New Zealand in the absence of Mahmudullah. He also was recently appointed as the Test vice-captain and is also part of the leadership group.

Speaking on the appointment for Litton as skipper of the ODI side, Yunus said: “Litton is one of the more experienced players in the side and has demonstrated leadership qualities. He has a sharp cricketing mind and reads the game well.”
