India and New Zealand locked horns in the second game of the T20I series at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. It was a game that saw Suryakumar Yadav smashing all the Kiwi bowlers all over the park and after that Indian bowlers displayed a wonderful performance to bag the match by 65 runs and take 1-0 lead in the series.

Asked to bat first, India had a poor start as they lost Rishabh Pant early for just 6 runs. After that Ishan Kishan played a handy knock and scored 36 runs but after that, it was Suryakumar Yadav’s show. The right-hander continued his fine form and smashed his second T20I century.

Yadav took kiwi pacers to the cleaners and held one end while wickets kept tumbling at the other. He scored 111 runs whereas the rest of the batters managed just 69 runs as India posted a total of 191 runs on the board. For New Zealand, it was Tim Southee, who was the pick of the bowlers, as he took the hat-trick and returned with the figures of 3/34.

Indian bowlers were on top then as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals and reduced New Zealand to 69/3. After that spinners came into the attack and left the hosts tumbling at 89/5. Kane Williamson scored half-century but he struggled for timing for most of his innings. A superlative bowling performance from India bundled out the hosts to the total of 126 and win the match by 65 runs. Deepak Hooda was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with the figures of 4/10.

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav was awarded Player of the Match in the second T20I between New Zealand and India. Batting at No.3, the right-hander smashed unbeaten 111 runs and helped his side post a total of 191 runs on the board. He reached his second T20I century in just 49 balls and smashed 11 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. He batted with a strike rate of 217.65.
