India and England are all set to lock horns with each other in the semi final of the T20 World Cup 2022. Both the teams have played exceptionally well in the tournament and have found themselves in this stage. They both would be hoping to bring out their A game and grab the trophy.
Mark Wood likely to be ruled out of the semi final against England
The semi final between India and England is all set to take place in Adelaide on Thursday (9th November). Both the teams are coming off the win in their last league game and would be looking to give their best.
But ahead of the game, England have suffered a major blow as right-arm pacer Mark Wood have suffered injury and is likely to miss the semi final against India. The fast bowler is suffering from a general body stiffness and also missed the practice session.
Although there’s no official confirmation but clouds are hovering over the availability of Wood’s availability for the game against India on Thursday. The fast bowler has been in the exceptional form in the ongoing tournament as he has picked nine wickets in four matches so far and has been consistently bowling 150 kmph.
If he misses the game, his absence will leave a massive void in England’s side as no other pager can bowl as fast as him in the side. However Tymal Mills can be a good option for them if Wood misses out.
His injury comes as the second blow to England as they already are in doubt over the selection of Dawid Malan, who tweaked his left groin while fielding in last Saturday’s win over Sri Lanka. He’s also likely to miss the game.
Probable Playing XI for the England against India in semi final
With both Dawid Malan and Mark Wood suffering injury scare, England are likely to make two changes in the side. Phil Slat and Tymal Mills are expected to walk into the XI.
Here’s probable playing XI for England for semi final against England
Alex Hales, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Tymal Mills
