India T20I squad for NZ vs IND: In a massive breaking news development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the India T20I squad for the upcoming tour to New Zealand. The Indian team is scheduled to play as many as three T20Is and a three-match ODI series in New Zealand. The India vs New Zealand opening T20I encounter will be taking place on 18 November, 2022 (Friday) at the Sky Stadium in Wellington.

India have named a 16-member squad for the upcoming three T20I matches in New Zealand starting next month and the big update is that premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the captain. The star trio of regular captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have been rested for this New Zealand tour while wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been named the vice-captain. In a very surprising decision, senior wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik who is currently the first-choice in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022, has been omitted from this 16-man T20I squad and instead both Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have been included.

Both Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel who are currently part of the India’s T20 World Cup squad, have also not been named in the T20I team for the New Zealand tour while the wrist-spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been included. Both Washington Sundar and Deepak Hooda have been named in the side while speedster Umran Malik makes a comeback after playing his last T20I against Ireland. India’s pace bowling combination also includes Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh while the duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are still recovering from their respective injuries.
