Fakhar Zaman IND vs PAK: In an important news update, Pakistan’s premier batsman Fakhar Zaman is not playing their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 opening game against arch-rivals India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. Pakistan are coming into this massive T20 competition on the back of a stunning victory in the T20I tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Pakistan also managed to beat India during their last T20I meeting in Asia Cup 2022.
IND vs PAK: Why is Fakhar Zaman Not Playing Today’s India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 Match?
During the pre-match press conference, Pakistan captain Babar Azam clearly mentioned that Fakhar Zaman has still not recovered completely from his knee injury and he will not be available for this crucial encounter against India. Fakhar was a late inclusion in the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 having replaced leg-spinner Usman Qadir. Pakistan have gone ahead with Shan Masood, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali in the middle-order.
“Toss is not in our hands, but we would have liked to bowl first as well. We’ll try to post around 160-170. We have prepared well, and we are ready for this big game. We had a T20 series back home (against England), we played a tri-series in New Zealand, so we are prepared. We have three fast bowlers and two spinners,” said Pakistan captain Babar Azam during the toss.
