Fakhar Zaman Included in Pakistan Squad for T20 World Cup 2022? Here’s the update

Pakistan Cricket team has had a best preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. After giving tough competition to the England at home they displayed a sensational performance in the tri-series to lift the trophy and head into the tournament with high confidence.

Pakistan will head into the tournament on the back of staggering multination series win in New Zealand. They will now play two warmup games against England and Afghanistan on 17th and 19th October before they begin their campaign against India in 23rd October.

With just few days remaining for the start of their first game, Pakistan have made one change to their main squad. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have added top-order batter Fakhar Zaman to the main squad in place of Usman Qadir.

Fakhar was orginally named in the standby list as he had sustained a knee injury which now has been healed and it is the reason why he has been added to the squad. On the other hand, Usman Qadir, who suffered a hairline fracture of the right thumb recently is yet to recover and is deemed unfit to play till 23rd October.

Fakhar will now arrive soon in Brisbane along with Shaheen Afridi and will be available for the two warmup games ahead of the tournament. Releasing the official statement, PCB confirmed the development and said that his fitness will be assessed during those warmup games.

“Fakhar will arrive in Brisbane from London along with Shaheen Shah Afridi on Saturday and will be available for selection in the two warm-up matches against England (17 October) and Afghanistan (19 October), during which the team management will assess the left-handed batter’s fitness.”

The additional of Fakhar Zaman will strength the Pakistan’s batting limo up especially after their middle order woes. He’s likely to bat at No.3 and play a crucial role for his side in the event.
