India far better team admits Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza

Mortaza says you never know, anything can happen

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza is eager to play against India in the finals of the Asia Cup and he has admitted that India is a far better team. But at the same time, the Bangladesh captain reminded everyone that you never know, anything can happen and hence he wants his team to improve before the finals.

Mortaza was speaking with the media ahead of the Asia Cup finals. He said that his team always knows that India are a serious side and the number one side in the world. He pointed out that India came here as the favorites.  He added that Bangladesh still needs to improve a bit of their batting and bowling.

My Asia Cup was won when Tamim batted against Sri Lanka: Mortaza 

Bangladesh will be playing the finals without their two key players Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. The skipper admitted that they will miss these two but he was also happy with the fact that his team has shown character so far.

Mortaza was full of praise for Tamim Iqbal who came out to bat against Sri Lanka despite being severely injured to ensure Mushfiqur Rahim didn’t run out of partners. The pace bowler said that the moment Tamim entered the field against Sri Lanka as the last man to help Mushfiqur score those runs, his Asia Cup was won.

Mortaza advises Bangladesh to fight till the last ball

Bangladesh reached the finals of the Asia Cup in 2012 and 2016. But on both occasions, they failed to cross the line. In 2012 they lost to Pakistan in an agonizingly close match while in 2016, India’s brilliance outpowered them.

Mortaza is aware of the history and gave his team advice ahead of the finals. He said that the team will have to be mentally strong and fight till the last ball. He also noted that it important to keep our emotion in check.
