The chief Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was announced in the Indian squad for the T20I series against Australia. But the right-arm pacer missed the first game in Mohali amid his recovery from a back injury. His participation in the second, upcoming game is yet to be confirmed. However, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stated an update regarding Bumrah’s comeback in the further games.

Bumrah, earlier, also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to an injury. The 28-year-old wasn’t announced in playing 11, at the toss during the first T20I yesterday (September 20). The act raised several speculations before Sharma, Bumrah’s skipper at Mumbai Indians, said, “Bumrah is not playing, he will take a game’s break and probably come back in the second and the third game.”

So, Bumrah is likely to play the second game of the three-match T20 International series in Nagpur. The game will be played on Friday (September 23) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

Besides, it wasn’t quite India’s night in Mohali as the side went on to lose the high-scoring derby in the final overs. India, while batting first, posted a huge total of 208 runs for six wickets. Hardik Pandya smashed an unbeaten knock of 71 runs in merely 30 deliveries with seven boundaries and five sixes. KL Rahul too scored a fifty. For Australia, Nathan Ellis picked up three wickets.

In response, the Aussies started well as the first-time opener Cameron Green quick fired 61 runs in just 30 deliveries. He smashed eight fours and four sixes during his time on the crease. However, it was Matthew Wade, Australia’s hero from the T20 World Cup semi-final, who turned the tables around. He notched 45 runs in 21 deliveries with six fours and a couple of sixes and remained not out to hand a remarkable victory to his side. Australia won the match by four wickets with four balls remaining. India’s Axar Patel captured three wickets, while Umesh Yadav two.
