SA T20 League (Cricket South Africa T20 League) is set to kick off on January 2023. The CSA’s new franchise cricket league will feature six teams named MI Cape Town, RPSG Durban, Johannesburg Super Kings, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Paarl Royals, and Pretoria Capitals. The teams will represent the South African cities – Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Gqeberha, Paarl, and Pretoria. All these teams belong to the owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams.

SA T20 Auction

Although, the squads of the franchises are yet to be finalized through the auction. 533 players have been listed for the auction and each team can have a maximum of 17 players with seven internationals and ten South African players in it. The teams have already signed 22 players from a pool of 30 via the pre-auction direct-acquisition process, where they were allowed to pick five players. Among these five players, a maximum of three overseas players were allowed to include, while one had to be a South African international and the remaining one an uncapped South African player. The teams will have a purse of US$2 million.

A total of 33 games will be played in January-February, with two semi-finals and the final. The league-stage games will be played on the home-away basis, and the teams will play each other twice.
