The hype for the T20 World Cup 2022 is increasing day by day. Tickets for the event have also started to sell out and also teams have been naming their squad. The last entrant to join the squad is Afghanistan.
T20 World Cup 2022: Mohammad Nabi to Lead Afghanistan Squad
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Thursday (15th September) announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, which will kick start in Australia from 16th October.
After doing a decent job as the skipper in the Asia Cup 2022, Mohammad Nabi has once again been handed the leadership responsibility. He will captain that team in the World Cup along with Najibullah Zadran, who will be his deputy.
Most hundreds among active cricketers
The likes of Samiullah Shinwari, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Afsar Zazai, Karim Janat and Noor Ahmad have been dropped from the squad due to poor performances and in their place, Darwish Rasooli, Qais Ahmed and Salim Safi have made in the 15-member squad.
While the rest of the team is pretty similar to what they played during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022. They have also named Afsar Zazai, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Rahmat Shah and Gulbadin Naib as the reserves in the side.

Afghanistan scheduleÂ
Based on their performances in the T20Is over the past few years, Afghanistan have qualified directly for the Super 12 stage. They are placed in the Group A along with Australia, England, New Zealand and the two qualifiers.
They will kick start their campaign against England on 22nd October followed by the match against New Zealand on 26th October. The Nabi-led side then will face winners of the qualifiers on 28th October and 1st November respectively before taking on hosts Australia on 4th November in Adelaide.
