India have found themselves in a deep hole after losing the game against Pakistan. Even one loss in a short format like this can be a big problem and they are well aware of it because of the group stage exit in the WT20 2021. India need to win their remaining two games to stay in hunt for the final in the Asia Cup 2022.
India vs Sri Lanka: Dinesh Karthik to replace Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda was picked to play at #7 as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja. Deepak Hooda has had a great start to his international career and there is no denying that fact, but playing him out of position in a big ticket game against Pakistan has to be one of the worst moves by the team management. It is understandable that they wanted a sixth bowling option as a cover up for Hardik Pandya but the trade off is losing crucial runs at the death overs. Deepak Hooda played 14 balls for just 16 runs at the death overs, Dinesh Karthik has been acing the role of finisher since IPL 2022.
It is expected that, India will bring in Dinesh Karthik for Deepak Hooda against SL.
IND vs SL Asia Cup 2022: Axar Patel for Rishabh Pant
If, India do bring in Dinesh Karthik for Deepak Hooda, it is a wise option to go with Axar Patel who can be a floater in the batting line-up to go with some quality slow left arm orthodox. Rishabh Pant has been struggling for so long in T20Is, he has lot the art of pacing the innings which is a massive worry for India going forward.

Will India move past Yuzvendra Chahal ?
Avesh Khan didn’t play in the previous game as he had a fever and India went in with just 2 frontline pacers with Hardik Pandya being the 3rd one. If Avesh Khan is fit to play the game, India will have to drop one of the wrist spinners. Yuzvendra Chahal has just one wicket in 3 games so far in the Asia Cup. On the other hand, Ravi Bishnoi was extremely impressive against Pakistan in the last game.
It will have to be seen whether India trust the experience of Yuzvendra Chahal or the better wrist spinner in Ravi Bishnoi when Avesh Khan comes back.
