Mohammad Naim has been a shining batting-star in the domestic circuit of Bangladesh as he set the ton for a bright future in the game. Naim holds a special distinction in Bangladesh Cricket, after he became the 100th player to play Test match cricket.

A young and promising Naim has been a great addition to the Bangladesh cricket circuit as he impressed despite having very few opportunities given to him. A promising young talent Naim made his international debut in 2019 at an small age of 20.

Career

Having roused to the national side from the domestic circuit, Naim’s development as a batter has been undoubted. He was the highest-run scorer in the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. Naim scored more than 800 runs in the tournament as he made his mark in just 16 matches.

He was part of the Bangladesh side during the 2018 U-19 World Cup held in New Zealand. Bangladesh finished sixth in the tournament.

A glimpse of his talent was seen in the domestic circuit when Naim amassed 556 runs at an average of 46.33 in the 2017-18 50-over Dhaka Premier League. This was the start of many big opportunities as he would be called into the senior side for the T20I series against India in India in 2019.

Despite being in the team for the home Tri-series for Bangladesh in September 2019, it was the India tour that saw him become 67th player to represent the Bangla Tigers in the shortest format of the game.

In March 2020 he became 133rd player to represent Bangladesh in the ODI format before the Covid-19 pandemic hampered the world. His debut in the Test format in January 2022 earned him a special recognition of being the 100th player to represent the national team in red-ball format.

Naim’s was part of the team that led the Test series 1-0 in New Zealand before losing the second match to end the series on level terms. Interestingly, Naim was dismissed for a duck in his debut innings in Test cricket.
