India are blessed switch some extraordinary young batsmen who are coming through the ranks pretty quickly. They do have an excellent fast bowling battery that can serve them for many more years to come. But the same cannot be said for off spinners. India don’t have much of an option when it comes to right arm off spinners. Washington Sundar is one of the two international ready off spinners for India and the Chennai boy has been ruled out of the upcoming series.
ZIM vs IND: Washington Sundar ruled out with an injury
Washington Sundar missed the WT20 bus last year because of injury. He had the chance to prove himself in this year’s IPL but he was injured midway and couldn’t play the whole of the season. He was out of any cricketing action since IPL and got an opportunity to play the Royal London ODD cup in England for Lancashire county team but got injured again. He was selected for the 3 match ODI series against Zimbabwe that is set to start of 18th of August but the off spinner has been ruled out again and will have to go to NCA for rehabilitation where he was since IPL. Shahbaz Ahmed has been named as the replacement for Washington Sundar.
Fastest 100 for India in each format
Ravichandran Ashwin who had a brilliant IPL came into the side in the absence of Washington Sundar and has grabbed the opportunity with both the hands. He is the only off spinner at the moment for India and India need to groom more such type of bowlers as Ravichandran Ashwin is already 35 years old. With Washington Sundar being injury prone, the NCA chief VVS Laxman has job on his hands.
KL Rahul to lead India against Zimbabwe
KL Rahul was not named in the initial squad that was to tour to ZIM but he was added at the last minute so that he can get some match practice ahead of the all important Asia Cup. KL Rahul has been away from the action since the end of IPL who sustained an injury in the season. This will be his first competitive game in more than 3 months.
