Former India captain Virat Kohli is considered by many as one of the best players in the world. A player with dynamic approach in the game Virat has participated in four T20 World Cups at the time of writing. However, despite being so talented and often compared to the greats of the game, Virat is succeed in adding a significant T20 trophy to his cabinet having failed at both international and Indian Premier League (IPL) stage.

Virat is the fifth-highest scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup, joining the likes of Chris Gayle, Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan. The batter only trails to Rohit Sharma by two runs, as the second-highest scorer in the t20 World Cup.
So far the 33-year-old has participated in 21 matches at the T20 World Cup, having first appeared at the global event in 2012. Virat was in rich vein of form in the 2012 event with 185 runs in five matches. Virat would score two fifties in the tournament, but a defeat against Australia in the second group stage saw India pack bags and exit.
Virat’s second turn appearance at the T20 World Cup in 2014, almost saw him replicate Yuvraj Singh‘s achievement. having won the 2011 ODI World Cup and 2008 U-19 World Cup, he was on the brink of winning the World Cup, before losing in the final to Sri Lanka. Virat was the leading run-scorer in the 2014 event and scored 319 runs in six innings, four of which saw him reach a score a fifty or more.
The 2016 event was also another success story for Virat, but he failed to reach glory again. After scoring 973 runs in the same year in IP, Virat was at the peak of his form. But this time it was the West Indies that ended his dream at the semifinal stage.
However, before he bowed out of the T20 World Cup at semifinal stage, Virat amassed 273 runs in five innings. Virat’s run consisted of three fifties including a best score of unbeaten 89.
The 2021 showpiece was the first and only occasion when Virat led Team India at the T20 World Cup. Placed in a tough group, Virat’s Team India lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in the group stage that saw his World Cup dream derail once again.
The 2021 edition of the World is one of the worse by his standards as he failed to reach the triple-figure mark and scored just 68 runs. He did manage to score a fifty on that day, but took and unlikely accolade to his name as the only Indian skipper to lose a World Cup game against Pakistan.
