Virat Kohli’s fastest T20 hundred came a month later after his first. In May 2016, Virat amassed a 113 runs against the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). The irresistible force of Virat saw him score those 113 runs in just 47 deliveries, in a match that was curtailed by rain.
Virat’s 113 was studded with 12 fours and 8 massive sixes at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. 96 runs came through boundaries as the knock went down as the fastest hundred by Virat Kohli in T20.
Interestingly in 2016, it was the third fastest ton by an Indian after Yusuf Pathan in 2010 and Murali Vijay in the same season. Interestingly only two off his five hundreds have come away from home. One against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in 2019 and the other in Rajkot in 2016 against Gujarat Lions.
In IPL 2016 season, Virat ended with three hundreds to his name with an astonishing tally of 973 runs, still a record at an arm’s length for any cricketer in the present moment of time. The Delhi-born batter made five IPL hundreds.
Virat Kohli total centuries
Virat Kohli has scored 70 centuries in his International career so far, and ranks third in the all-time list. None of his 70 centuries have come in the T20I format. But having said that, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has filled that void of T20 centuries.
