ISL 2018: Five new players to look out for in 2018/19 season

The fifth season of the Indian Super League (ISL) is around the corner, and it is high time we familiarise ourselves with some of the new players who will be playing this tournament for the first time.

Here is a list of five new players who have all the hype behind them:

1. Tim Cahill

One of the best players to ever play out of Australia, Tim Cahill made his name as a lethal forward player in the Premier League. He spent eight years with Everton FC and scored 56 goals in 226 appearances. Known to have a knack of being at the right place at the right time as well as exceptional heading ability, Cahill in his prime was one of the most dangerous opponents to face.

He has made his move to Jamshedpur FC for the ISL season 5 and will be using the experience he garnered by making more than a century of appearances for his national team.

 

2. Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem

After getting an exponential response for stellar performances in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem caught the eye of the Indian footballing community. Even though he is young, he has done really well for Mohun Bagan last year, even managing to keep some clean sheets along the way.

Kerela Blasters snapped him up for the upcoming season, and they have also made a bold statement that he will be the no.1 keeper for the team in ISL.

3. Andrija Kaluderovic

The top goal-scorer of the Australian A-League side Wellington Phoenix, Andrija Kaluderovic is one of the fiercest forwards to play in the ISL. He is 31 years of age and has played in many different leagues in his hopes becoming an established striker and develop his game.

Delhi Dynamo’s coach, Josep Gombau, will be making sure that Kaluderovic is made aware of the task at hand with this side, and how integral he is to the goal the management would have in mind.

 

4. Michael Soosairaj

One of the brightest young talents from India, Michael Soosairaj lit up the I-League last season with Chennai City FC. An extremely gifted player who has good dribbling ability that can terrorise the opposition, Soosairaj has been trying to get noticed so he can get a call up for the Indian national team. For his performances last season he was adjudged as the Best midfielder of the I-League.

Jamshedpur FC paid a record Rs. 25 Lakh to play for them in the upcoming ISL season. The price tag does come with a bit of a pressure but with the mentality Michael possesses, it expected he will deliver once again.

5. Andrea Orlandi

Former Barcelona player, Andrea Orlandi, has made his way to play the football in ISL, what will be the last few years of his career. Orlandi is a playmaker, but can also do a top job in the centre midfield.

Defending champions of ISL Chennaiyin FC know that the wealth of experience Andrea Orlandi will be bringing is vital to how this team prepares to retain the title they worked so hard to attain.
