The wicket-keeper batter was roped in by Mumbai Indians as a replacement for injured Tymal Mills in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Stubbs made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings on 12th May at the Wankhede Stadium, replacing Kieron Pollard in the eleven. However, it wasn’t a dream start to his IPL career as he managed to face only two deliveries and failed to get off the mark.
Career
The talented middle-order batter made his first-class debut at Oudtshoorn on 16 January 2020 against South Western Districts for Eastern Province in the 2019-20 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup. Two months later on 16 February 2020, he made his List-A debut at Pietermaritzburg in the 2019-20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. Stubbs made his T20 debut for Warriors against Dolphins at Durban on February 21, 2021 in the 2020-21 CSA T20 Challenge.
Stubbs was added to the Mumbai Indians set-up for IPL 2022, replacing injured Tymal Mills. He also went to make his debut in the IPL against Chennai Super Kings on May 12, 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium.
