As it turns out Venkatesh Iyer was not injured. He was dropped from the playing XI in the last match due to his lack of form. And hence he is not expected to be available for this match as well. Management is expected to continue with the duo of Indrajith and Aaron Finch at the top of the order. The rise in form of Rinku Singh in the middle order also makes Venky’s return chances very slim.

Venkatesh Iyer has been one of the most underperforming players this season. He who mostly opened for KKR had just scored 132 runs this season at a very pathetic strike rate of 97.77. He was one of the four retained players by KKR ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. He was retained for 8 crores and was the main reason for the turnaround of KKR in the 2nd leg of IPL 2021.

KKR won their last match against RR by 7 wickets and has just come back to winning ways. So they are expected to retain the same eleven that played against RR. With 8 points from 10 matches played so far, they need to win all their remaining matches to qualify. They will be counting on the form of Rinku, Nitish, and Shreyas to do the same.
