Who won today’s IPL match?: The 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was an enthralling contest that saw Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at DY Patli StadiumĀ in Mumbai. Skipper Faf du Plessis led from the front and marshalled his troops to the 5th win of the season. RCB defeated LSG by 19 runs to enter top two in the points table.

Asked to bat first, it was an horrendous start for the Royal Challengers Bangalore as they lost Anuj Rawat (4) and Virat Kohli (0) in the very first over. Glenn Maxwell played a counter punch of 23 runs but Krunal Pandya got better off him. Suyash Prabhudessai too fell early as they found themselves tumbling at 64/3. Faf du Plessis then stood tall for his side and led from the front and smashed a masterful 96 runs to take his side to the total of 181 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed supported him well with his 26 runs. For LSG, Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers and returned with theĀ figures of 2/25.

Chasing the target, LSG had a similar sort of start as they too found themselves tottering at 64/3 with Quinton de Kock (3), KL Rahul (30) and Manish Pandey (6) back in the hut. Krunal Pandya kept his side in hunt with a knock of 42 runs but Glenn Maxwell removed him in the 14th over. Ā Josh Hazlewood did the further damage to remove Ayush Badoni and Marcus Stoinis and returned with the figures of 4/25. With 32 runs needed off the last over, Harshal Patel then comfortably closed the game for his side by 19 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis was awarded Player of the Match in todayās encounter against Lucknow Super Giants. Opening the batting, the Proteas batsman registered his highest score in the IPL. The right-hander scored 96 runs in 64 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes. Despite losing wickets at one end, he held the one end and made sure that scoreboard kept moving. His knock RCB post a total of 181 runs on the board and win the match by 19 runs.

IPL scheduleĀ
The next match of the IPL 2022 is scheduled to take place between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Brabourne Stadium in Pune. Notably, the match was earlier scheduled to take place in Pune but COVID-19 scare in DCās camp forced the BCCI to stage match in Mumbai.
