Royal Challengers Bangalore released players 2021 – Ahead of the 2022 IPL mega-auction, RCB retained only Virat Kohli, Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell and decided to release all other players from their squad except AB de Villiers who retired from the game before the auction began.

During the 2022 IPL mega-auction, RCB bought back some of their released players to retain continuity in the squad. From the 2021 squad, they got back the Purple holder from last season Harshal Patel, the leg-spinning allrounder W Hasaranga and the youngsters S Prabhudesai and Shahbaz Ahmad.

Now let’s take a look at some of their key players from last season who were bought by other teams.

1. Yuzvendra Chahal – It was a surprise to many when RCB didn’t even bid for their most experienced spinner who has been associated with the franchise since 2012 but they had their eyes on Hasaranga since he provides batting depth too. Chahal was eventually bought by RR at 6.5 crores.

2. Devdutt Padikkal – The youngster was discussed as one of the contenders for the captaincy option for RCB but wasn’t retained. They did bid for him till 4.4 crores but RR went till 7.7 crores to buy him.

3. Washington Sundar – The off-spinning allrounder missed last season due to injury and RCB didn’t bid for him at the auction as he went for a whopping 8.75 crore to SRH.

4. Navdeep Saini – This isn’t much of a surprise considering his lack of performances for RCB with the ball. He was sold to RR at 2.6 crores.

5. KS Bharat – The wicket-keeper batter played some vital innings for RCB at No.3 last season including a match-winning six off the last ball against DC and  he was bought by DC at 2 crores.
