England have been hit by injuries in the 3 match test series against West Indies. Their quickest fast bowler in Mark Wood was ruled out of the series after injuring his shoulder in the first innings of the first test. They didn’t have the services of Ollie Robinson as well who is sidelined due to injury. Ollie Robinson has been a stunning performer for England ever since he made his debut for England in 2021.
WI vs ENG: Chris Woakes gets another chance
Chris Woakes has been pretty pathetic with the ball in the series. He doesn’t inspire confidence when he is not bowling in England. As England decided to move on from their two veteran bowlers in James Anderson and Stuart Broad, they have decided to stick with the proven failure in Chris Woakes and it has not paid off so far in the series.
With Ollie Robinson not being fully fit for this game as well, England have decided to give Chris Woakes another go in the series but they have decided to drop Matthew Fisher who replaced the injured Craig Overton for the 2nd test. As Craig Overton got fit, he comes back into the playing 11 for Matthew Fisher. Saqib Mahmood who was mighty impressive in the 2nd game on a lifeless pitch continues to be in the XI to form a 4 man pace attack along with Ben Stokes. Jack Leach continues to be the sole spinner in the XI.
Their top 7 remains intact with Alex Lees and Zak Crawley being their openers. It looks like England have decided to give those two openers a long run and to be fair, both their openers have shown enough courage and determination in the series so far to prove that they can belong to this level.
