IPL 2022: Rahmanullah Gurbaz added to Gujarat Titans 2022 Squad

The Indian Premier League 2022 is set to kickstart from 26 March, and the excitement is building up among the cricket fans. The tournament is scheduled for a time period of more than 2 months, with 10 teams contesting for the title. But, the bio bubble related protocols for such a long duration will be a testing time for the players participating in the tournament. IPL 2022: Rahmanullah Gurbaz added to Gujarat Titans 2022 Squad

In a latest news development, the Afghanistan wicket keeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been added to Gujarat Titans squad for the Indian Premier League 2022 season. Here is the official tweet by Gujarat Titans franchise on Twitter.

Gurbaz went unsold in the Indian Premier League 2022 Auction, and is bought by the franchise for his base price of 50 Lakhs. It will be the debut IPL season for the youngster, who has featured in other T20 leagues like PSL, BPL, and LPL. While, he has also been a regular member of the Afghanistan limited overs side since 2021. Recently, he hit a century against Bangladesh in an ODI fixture. He will also serve as the back up wicket keeper to Matthew Wade in the side.

Gurbaz will replace the England top order batsman Jason Roy pulled out of the tournament owing to expected bubble fatigue reasons, and wanting to spend enough time with the family.

After Rahmanullah Gurbaz replaced Jason Roy in the Gujarat Titans squad, the team management would surely look upon him as a partner for talented Shubman Gill, who also opened for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020 and 2021 season.

The team will need the explosive innings from the experienced players like Hardik Pandya and Matthew Wade, who have been top performers in T20 format for the last few years and would look to take the Gujarat Titans into the playoffs in their debut season. While, Vijay Shankar and Gurkeerat Mann are the reliable run scorers in domestic cricket.
