IND vs SL: Mayank Agarwal Added to India Squad for Sri Lanka T20Is?

IND vs SL: The injury issues and covid concerns have become a new normal amid bio bubble environment for the past 2 years in international cricket. In the Indian team, the likes of KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar were ruled out of the Sri Lanka T20I series due to injuries. Here is the latest update regarding the addition of key player in the squad.

IND vs SL: Mayank Agarwal Added to India Squad for Sri Lanka T20Is

According to sources, the experienced top order batsman Mayank Agarwal has been added to India squad for the Sri Lanka T2OI series as a back up for Ruturaj Gaikwad, who sustained a wrist injury during the practice session at the brink of 1st T20I, and did not play the game as well.

“Ruturaj Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist, which is affecting his batting. He was unavailable for selection for the first T20I. The BCCI Medical Team is examining him,” a spokesman for the Indian team had said before 1st T20I.

Mayank Agarwal was already present in the bio bubble environment in Chandigarh with the other players of the test squad. With the 2nd T20I being scheduled in Dharamsala, which is quite near to Chandigarh has caused no problem for BCCI to transfer Mayank from Test to T20I squad.

“It was not difficult to send Agarwal in because it could easily a bubble-to-bubble transfer. He was in Chandigarh and he was immediately rushed,” a source told Cricbuzz.

This is the first replacement/ backup announced for this series. Before this, there were no replacements announced after the injuries of Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar Yadav.

India vs Sri Lanka: Possible India Playing 11 for 2nd T20I

The Indian team secured a dominating win over the Sri Lanka team in the 1st T20I at Lucknow. The team management is not expected tinker enough with the Playing 11 for the 2nd T20I, with all the players in fine form. With Ruturaj Gaikwad injured, Sanju Samson will retain his place in 11.
