Lahiru Kumara featured for Sri Lanka team in U19 World Cup 2016 and picked up 4 wickets in 4 matches. He made his domestic debut in a First Class fixture in 2016, while playing for Sri Lanka A team. In the same year, he played his first test match against Zimbabwe due to his express pace and consistent performances in the Youth level matches against England U19 team.

His ODI debut came in 2017, and was given opportunity in T20I in 2019. Since then he has been terrific with his wicket taking abilities. With capability to bowl fast yorkers/bouncers and swing the ball in both directions, Lahiru can be a lethal weapon for the Sri Lanka team across all the formats.

Lahiru has been impressive in all the formats of the game in international and domestic cricket. In 23 Test matches, he has picked up 69 wickets since 2016. In this process, he became the second youngest bowler from Sri Lanka to take a five wicket haul in test innings, and claimed his best figures of 6/122 against South Africa in 2017.

In 13 ODIs, he has picked up 13 wickets, and has 18 scalps in 16 T20I matches. While, he has been quite terrific for Nondescripts team in First Class cricket with 127 wickets in 43 appearances.
