IPL 2022 venue details: 55 league matches in three Mumbai venues, 15 fixtures in Pune

IPL venue – There is enough excitement around the start date of Indian Premier League 2022, which will consists of 10 teams and talented cricketers all around the world. Here is the latest news coming with respect to the venues of the 2022 season.
IPL 2022 Venue
As per reports on Cricbuzz, IPL 2022 may begin from March 26 or 27, with Mumbai and Pune hosting the full tournament. This constitutes the 55 league matches in three Mumbai venues, Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium. All teams are expected to play 4 matches each on these venues. While other 15 league matches will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium, Pune.

All the stadiums have hosted Indian Premier League matches before this season. All the three venues of Mumbai have been a home ground to Mumbai Indians franchise over the years, with Wankhede Stadium being the venue hosting the maximum of them. The bio bubble protocols will be little easier to be followed, with the same city hosting the matches. It will be interesting to see whether the BCCI can provide practice facilities for all the 10 teams. While MCA Pune was the home venue for Pune Warriors India and Rising Pune Super Giants in the past.
IPL Start Date
The official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League 2022, Star Sports is reported to have asked BCCI to start the tournament from March 26, to accommodate 3 matches on the weekends, with opener on Saturday and double header on Sunday. This will certainly put their viewership in great demand during the first 2 days, which help them in sustaining most of the crowd during the week as well.

It was reported earlier as well, the Star Sports had written mail to the concerned commentators for informing their availability from March 19 to July 7, which is a 2 month window, given a total of 10 teams will take a much more than 1.5 months to conclude the Indian Premier League 2022.
