The final game of English summer ended on a high for the home side as they clinched the final Test of the Specsavers Test series quite convincingly by 118 runs and in the process, they won the series by 4-1.
On the final day, India did show some resistance in the form of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant but their prolific innings went in vain and they could not save their team from yet another defeat on this tour. The duo stitched a crucial 204 run stand for the 6th wicket and displayed some extravagant cricketing shots all around the park but no other batsman got going which led India slump to their fourth loss of the series.

The Second innings saw India losing their first three wickets in a really quick succession as they were reduced to 3 wickets with just 2 runs on the board. The three big guns, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli were all back to the dugout with scores of 1, 0, 0 respectively. KL Rahul was watching slump of wickets from the other hand and was waiting for a partner with whom he could gel well.
He got his first assist in the form of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane who got 37 of 106 deliveries and together they tried to steady the Indian innings with a 118 run stand. But Rahul’s prime assist came in the form of Rishabh Pant and the duo put on a 204 run stand for the sixth wicket which saw both the batsman getting a century score to their name.
KL Rahul slammed his fifth Test century as he got 149 which included 20 fours and a six, this was also and the first one on English soil, he also became only the third opener for India to score a ton in the fourth innings after Sunil Gavaskar and Shikhar Dhawan. Whereas, Rishabh Pant got a booming 114 of just 146 deliveries which included 15 fours and 4 sixes. He also became the first ever wicket-keeper batsman for India to score a ton on English soil.
