Jazz: The Gobert factor
Rudy Gobert is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and he has surely deserved that award. He is the type of player that can cover up the missed assignments and well, he does sacrifice his own match-ups to accomplish that. At times, his own assignments have the open lanes and that is because he has to do just so much on the defensive end with so-so perimeter defense. The Jazz have lost the offensive balance too without Gobert because he gives second-chance points with his offensive rebounding, sets tough screens, and performs inside finishes.

That is why with him gone, the overall balance has taken a huge hit. Now, the team is also without Joe Ingles and the burden has shifted upon the existing guard position. Still, if Mitchell is healthy, he can form a formidable guard trio with Conley and Clarkson. All three are high-yielding scorers and Bojan Bogdanovic at wing can also give high-quality scoring. Royce O’Neale can be an effective defender and can give some hustle too. Overall, with Mitchell, Clarkson, Bogdanovic, and Conley, the team has some top-notch shooting.

Knicks: What a tough season!
The Knicks were one of the best stories last season, they had a hustling, bustling squad that was making teams work hard and with Julius Randle at the helm, their offense was working too. It seems like the Conference Quarterfinals loss to the Atlanta Hawks has carried its influence deep into this season. However, the team brought in two experienced guards in Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier and while Fournier has had some big nights, the impact of Walker has been pretty much nonexistent on offense and this system hasn’t worked for him at all.

The trouble is while RJ Barrett has been doing a great job of finishing at the rim and being high-yielding at the offensive end, the whole team has hit the efficiency bug. Meanwhile, Immanuel Quickley has also had troubles stretching the floor but I think he could have done decently if given a starting spot. Obi Toppin hasn’t panned out and pairing him alongside a high-octane playmaker could have been better. At this point, the team could have utilized the services of veteran Derrick Rose as Alec Burks has misfired. Perhaps the team will make a bunch of trades soon.
