IPL 2022: Ahmedabad IPL Team Name as Ahmedabad Titans. Here’s official update

Ahmedabad IPL Team Name: In a massive news development, the newly introduced Ahmedabad IPL team has officially announced their name as Ahmedabad Titans for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new teams in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been appointed the captain of the Ahmedabad IPL team.

The Ahmedabad-based IPL franchise will now officially be called as “Ahmedabad Titans”. Apart from Hardik as the captain, the team has also picked the duo of Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill as their first three players ahead of the IPL mega auction 2022. Hardik Pandya who will captain the Ahmedabad IPL Team has been picked for a massive amount worth INR 15 crore. In an astonishing move, the CVC-owned franchise have named Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan as their second player for a whopping price of INR 15 crore while Shubman Gill is their third pick for an amount worth INR 8 crore.

Also, India’s 2011 World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten has been named the mentor of the Ahmedabad IPL team while former England cricketer Vikram Solanki is the Director of Cricket and Ashish Nehra will take the head coach duties. On the other hand, the Lucknow IPL team earlier announced Lucknow Super Giants as their official name for their debut season. KL Rahul will captain the Lucknow IPL Team while duo of Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi are their other two picks ahead of the mega auction.

This year’s Indian Premier League mega auction is scheduled to take place on 12 and 13 February in Bengaluru. As many as 590 players will go under the hammer comprising of 370 Indian cricketers and 220 overseas players. In the IPL 2022 auction, the marquee players will be the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, David Warner, Trent Boult, Pat Cummins, Ravichandran Ashwin, Quinton de Kock, Mohammed Shami and Faf du Plessis.

According to some relevant sources, IPL 2022 is scheduled to kickstart from 27 March and the tournament opener is likely to take place in Mumbai.
