IPL 2022: MS Dhoni to be CSK CAPTAIN? Here’s the update

MS Dhoni CSK Captain in IPL 2022: In a big breaking news, veteran cricketer MS Dhoni will captain the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions having won the previous edition of the tournament under the leadership of MS Dhoni that makes it as many as four titles in their kitty. Ahead of the IPL mega auction 2022, CSK retained the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
IPL 2022: MS Dhoni to be CSK CAPTAIN?
According to a recent interview, a CSK source has revealed that as of now, MS Dhoni will continue as Chennai Super Kings captain in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. It is being understood that both Dhoni and the CSK franchise officials are currently focussed on the IPL 2022 mega auction. The source also revealed that the four-time IPL winning captain is absolutely fit and is always the first person to arrive for the CSK camp every time.
Ahead of the mega auction, CSK announced their retention list with Ravindra Jadeja being their first player to be retained for a whopping amount of INR 16 crore while Dhoni opted to be the second pick for INR 12 crore. The duo of Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad were their final two retentions worth INR 8 and 6 crore respectively.

“There have been no discussions regarding the matter. We will cross the bridge when the time comes. Dhoni is our captain. He is the first player of CSK and when he decides to step down, he will make that call. We are now focused on the auction,” said a CSK source.
“See, you are talking about Dhoni, who has set examples after examples. He left the top retention spot for Jadeja and has been one of the first to arrive for CSK camp every time. He is fit, led the team to another title. Why would he retire mid-season? All of those discussions will take place at the right time. Right now, his focus is on auction,” the source added.

IPL Start Date
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has already confirmed that the IPL mega auction 2022 is scheduled to take place on 12 and 13 February. The 2022 edition of the cash-rich T20 league is likely to kickstart from 27 March and the tournament is expected to be hosted entirely in the three venues in Mumbai namely Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium.
