Match Fixing Team in IPL – Indian Premier League has seen many heated moments, arguments and controversies. IPL was marred by match fixing scandal in 2013 which an investigation leading to the teams getting suspended for two seasons.

IPL 2013 saw Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals being alleged for betting and spot-fixing cases respectively. The whole saga began when Delhi Police arrested Rajasthan Royals’ players S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan for spot fixing. The incident happened after their match in Mumbai.
Apart from this, Mumbai Police arrested Chennai Super Kings Team Principal Gurunath Meiyappan, Vindo Dara Singh and Priyank Sepani in a separate case. The trio was arrested in a case related to betting in the IPL.
However, as the investigations took place, both Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings suspended all those involved in fixing and betting scandals. Later Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra were banned by BCCI for life from all the matches that will be conducted by the governing body.

In 2015, the whole saga saw the twist when the Supreme Court of India appointed a three-member committee, which was led by the former Chief Justice of India, R M Lodha. After discussions, the three-member committee on account of match-fixing and betting activities announced a ban for Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for two years from IPL.
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royal’s return to IPL
After facing two years ban for match-fixing and betting cases both Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals made a comeback in IPL 2018.
Both the teams announced their comeback in style. While the MS Dhoni-led side left all their woes back by winning the trophy, Rajasthan Royals on the other hand qualified for the playoffs and finished fourth on the table.
