Big Bash League: STA vs SCO Match Cancelled? Here's the official update

STA vs SCO Match : In the recent development, the 31st match of the Big Bash League T20 2021-22 season between the Melbourne Stars and the Perth Scorchers scheduled to be played on 2 January in Melbourne has been given a green signal. The 11th edition of the Big Bash League has witnessed a number of COVID-19 positive cases in different teams until now. The previous fixture between the Stars and the Scorchers had to be postponed following a member of the Stars’ support staff tested Covid positive.

STA vs SCO Match Cancelled?

It has been confirmed that as many as 10 players and 8 support staff members from the Melbourne Stars tested positive for Covid-19 and this has caused a major chaos for the remainder of the T20 tournament. However, the Melbourne Stars have also revealed that Cricket Australia (CA) have still permitted their game against Perth Scorchers to be played as per the original schedule. The Melbourne Stars are also scheduled to play a Melbourne derby against the Renegades on 3 January, 2022.

The Melbourne Stars can confirm a further 3 players have returned a positive test for COVID-19.

Big Bash League: Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers

Earlier on 31 December, the New Year’s Eve blockbuster game between the Sydney Thunder and the Adelaide Strikers successfully went ahead despite four players testing positive from the Thunder’s camp. However, Cricket Australia (CA) and the BBL clubs agreed on some strict guidelines for the game to be carried on.

While talking about the tournament so far, the Melbourne Stars are currently placed at the sixth position on the points table with as many as three wins and three losses. On the other hand, the Perth Scorchers have had a fabulous campaign in the ongoing edition of the tournament as they have managed to win 6 out of their 7 games and are slotted at the second spot in the team standings.
