SA vs IND 2021: India Test SQUAD Announced. Who is New IND Test Vice-Captain?

The Indian team is all set to tour South Africa for the three-Test series and ODI series. The tour will kick start from 26th December with Boxing Day Test match. The second Test will be played at Johannesburg from 3rd January followed by last match at Cape Town on 11th January. The ODI series between the nations will then be played from 19th to 23rd January.
SA vs IND 2021: Indian squad for the Test series against South Africa
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 18-member squad for the three-match Test series against South Africa.
The 18-member squad will be led by Virat Kohli. What came as a surprise was Ajinkya Rahane has been sacked as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team. Senior Indian opener Rohit Sharma has been named as Kohli’s deputy in the longest format of the game. But in a disappointing turn of events, Sharma has been ruled out of the Test series and young Priyank Panchal has replaced him in the squad.

The likes of KL Rahul, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Mohammad Shami, Shardul Thakur and Jasprit Bumrah are back in the squad while Cheteshwar Pujara, Shreyas Iyer, Mayank Agarwal Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj have retained their place in the side.
Apart from the main squad the BCCI also named four standby players in Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Arzan Nagwaswalla.

South Africa vs India 2021: Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel out with injuries
In what came as a surprise, the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel and Rahul Chahar have not been named as a surprise.
The reason being these fours players missing from the squad is due to the injuries, which they suffered in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand.
