IND vs NZ, 1st Test Live Score New Zealand at 72/0 at Tea on Day 2: Tom Latham, Will Young stand tall for visitors

After a poor outing on Day 1 of the first Test match against India at Green Park, Kanpur New Zealand staged a dominant comeback on Day 2 to bundled out India for 345 runs. In reply, New Zealand openers showed great grit and determination and negotiated the tricky phase to make sure that no Kiwi wicket fell at the Lunch on second Day.

Tom Latham, Will Young stand tall for New Zealand

After bowling out India inside the first 3 overs of the post-lunch session, New Zealand openers Tom Latham and Will Young were very watchful against the likes of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav with the new ball. The duo survived a few chances but made sure that they don’t let the pressure get better off them.

Both the openers after being watchful initially looked very comfortable on the pitch and kept ticking the scoreboard as well. While Tom Latham blocked the ball, Will Young was the aggressor among the two. The duo showed intent against the spinners and went on to register 50-plus partnership for the 1st wicket.

At Tea on Day 2, New Zealand are 272 runs behind India’s score and are 72/0 with Latham and Young unbeaten at 23 and 46 respectively.

IND vs NZ: New Zealand bundled out India for 345 runs 

New Zealand didn’t have the greatest of days on the Day 1 of the Test match at Kanpur but their pacers made sure that they stay in the game and don’t let India be completely on them. Kyle Jamieson jolted the hosts early on with the wicket of Mayank Agarwal for 13 runs and then just when it looked the Ajinkya Rahane-led side was on the top of the game, the lanky pacer bowled well-set Shubman Gill for 52 runs and then later uprooted the stumps of skipper Rahane for 32 runs.

Tim Southee, who removed Cheteshwar Pujara on Day1, was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors on Day 2. The right-arm pacer was on the top of his game right from ball 1 and took 4 wickets today to register his 13th five-wicket haul. In the end spinner, Aijyaz Patel took the last 2 wickets as New Zealand bundled out India for 345 runs.
