Knicks: Struggling starters
New York has had a ton of trouble putting up points recently. Kemba, Fournier, and Barrett at the PG-SF spot have continually scored in single-figures with Barrett especially shooting around 30% from the field. The team hasn’t played with a Point Guard who can anchor the ship well and although Kemba can perform that role, his fit with the team looks off. Julius Randle had 34 in the last game but even he struggled prior to that. The Knicks are not the same defensive team as last season and now squander around 108 points a game after holding teams to mainly around 100 last season.

Lakers: Poor defense
Lakers’ defense has been a major issue. The team gave Celtics chances to score 130 and then Pistons put up around 70 points in one half alone during the last game. The perimeter defense is fragile while despite Anthony Davis anchoring the paint, teams have an easy time scoring night against the Lakers. Case in point? Teams like Thunder and Pistons who rank dead-last among offensive squads have scrapped up 110-120 points easily against the Lakers team. If the team fixes its defense, it is going to win a lot more.
