Fit again Bhuvneshwar Kumar eyes a comeback in Asia Cup

Fit Bhuvneshwar back in form

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar made an impressive comeback against South Africa A and returned with a three-wicket haul for India A and sent out a clear message to the Indian selectors that he is rearing to go in the Asia Cup.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned with figures of 9-1-33-3 against South Africa A in a placings match of the Quadrangular series where India A won by 124 runs.

He first dismissed Theunis de Bruyne with an outswinger and then he got the wicket of Khaya Zondo and Senuran Muthuswamy.

Bhuvneshwar had played the last ODI against England for Indian cricket team but his injury forced him to stay out of the Indian squad in the Test series.

He couldn’t recover from his back injury in time for the remaining Tests. After recovering completely, he started bowling in the nets and the national selection committee decided to make him play for India A for checking his fitness.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar proved his fitness in the game and now he is in contention of being selected for the Asia Cup 2018.

Asia Cup 2018

The fourteenth edition of the Asian Cup will kickstart from September 15 in UAE (United Arab Emirates) where six teams will battle it out to lift the trophy.

The event will witness 13 matches will go on for two weeks. The final of the tournament will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 28.

India are the reigning champions of the Asia Cup and they will play their first match against the qualifier on September 18 in Dubai.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have already qualified for the Asia Cup, but one more team is yet to qualify for the event.

The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) have confirmed that they will announce the team on Saturday, September 1 in Mumbai.
