Graham Gooch, the former England cricketer has picked his all-time XI which includes three English, three Australian, two West Indian, one South African and one Pakistani cricketer. But interestingly only one Indian cricketer has made it to this team. Also, legends such as Don Bradman, Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralitharan, and Sir Richard Hadlee are missing.
Gooch mostly picked players from his generation as the list features only three cricketers who played after 1990’s. The England opener revealed his playing XI on Lord’s cricket ground’s YouTube channel.

For the opening slots, Gooch picked Barry Richards and Geoffrey Boycott, a lethal combination of flamboyance and technical stroke-play. The middle order comprises of heavy-weights. It includes some of the best batsmen the cricket world has ever seen. Sir Vivan Richards, the aggressive batsman from West Indies occupies the vital third position. He is followed by Test cricket’s highest run-getter Sachin Tendulkar at number four while the legendary Aussie Allan Border bats at number five.
At number seven, Gooch picked fellow countryman Sir Ian Botham with whom he spent a lot of time in the dressing room. Gooch lauded Botham by claiming that Botham made things happen. For keeping wickets too, Gooch opted for An England cricketer, Alan Knott. The England wicket-keeper was regarded highly for his immaculate technique behind the wickets and his reliable pair of hands.
The bowling attack too comprises of the best of the crop. Dennis Lillee, Malcolm Marshall and Wasim Akram handle the pace bowling department while the spin wizard, Shane Warne occupies the sole spot for the spinner.
The team includes only Tendulkar from India and Gooch was very appreciative about him. The Englishman said that Tendulkar had an insatiable appetite for runs and he also didn’t forget to point out Tendulkar’s humble personality off the field.
