India’s biggest Cricket festival, IPL 2021 will begin from today and the excitement is on its peak due to most of the players in fine form ahead of the tournament. It may turn out to be a crucial match-practice for all the players participating in the T20 World Cup scheduled at the same venues. But few of the players like Dhoni and Raina from CSK only feature in the IPL AND are the center of attraction. The duo play a vital role for the CSK team in their opening fixture against the MI team.
Will Faf du Plessis Play against MI?
The opening batsman and one of the highest run-scorers for Chennai Super Kings, Faf Du Plessis’s participation in the first league fixture in the Phase 2 against Mumbai Indians remains doubtful. From the last month, he featured in the Caribbean Premier League for Saint Lucia Kings and was one of the reasons for the team being a runner-up.

During the last league matches of the CPL 2021, Faf sustained a groin injury and missed the last 2 league matches and the play-offs and was seen cheering for the team along with team mentor Darren Sammy. But there is an update regarding the batsman by the CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan,
“He is in isolation as arrived only last night. Once he is out, we will assess his injury and then take a call accordingly. But there is no need to worry right now,” CSK CEO Vishwanathan said to Inside Sport.
Probable Playing 11 for Chennai Super Kings
The Chennai Super Kings may opt for 3 overseas options, in the absence of their key performers like Faf Du Plessis (injury concerns) and Sam Curran (isolation). Moeen Ali, Josh Hazleweood, and Imran Tahir may be selected to feature in their opening fixture against the Mumbai Indians.
