आखिरी दो मुकाबलों के लिए हुई भारतीय टीम को घोषणा, मयंक अग्रवाल फिर हुए नजरअंदाज

जैसे कि सभी कयास लगा रहे थे, भारतीय चयनकर्ताओं ने चौथे और पांचवे टेस्ट के लिए टीम चुनने के लिए कोई बड़ा बदलाव नहीं किया. गौरतलब है कि मुरली विजय को बाहर करके पृथ्वी शा और हनुमा विहारी को टीम में लिया गया
2018 में काफी बुरे प्रदर्शन के बाद विजय का बाहर जाना तो लगभग तय था, परंतु पृथ्वी शा को मयंक अग्रवाल की जगह टीम में शामिल किया जाना काफी शॉकिंग था.

पृथ्वी शा और मयंक अग्रवाल दोनों ने ही घरेलू क्रिकेट में जादू ज्यादा रन बनाए और मयंक अग्रवाल ने रणजी प्रतियोगिता में अधिकतम रन बनाए थे. गौरतलब है कि चयनकर्ताओं ने अंडर 19 विश्वकप विजेता कप्तान पृथ्वी शा को तवज्जो दी और उन्हे चुना गया. उन्होने अपनी पिछली बारह पारियों में कुल 4 शतक लगाएं हैं.

मुरली विजय को टेस्ट क्रिकेट में भारत का सबसे अच्छा सलामी बल्लेबाज माना जा रहा था पर उन्होने 2018 में बिल्कुल भी अच्छी प्रदर्शन नहीं किया. इस कारण 34 वर्षीय तमिलनाडु के बल्लेबाज को टीम से बाहर होना पड़ा.
चयन कर्ताओं ने हनुमा विहारी को टीम में जगह दी. गौरतलब है कि वे 59.79 की औसत से, सबसे ज्यादा औसत वाले भारतीय बल्लेबाज हैं. विहारी ने भी घरेलू क्रिकेट में बड़े बड़े स्कोर किए हैं और भारत ए की ओर से सबसे अधिक रन बनाए हैं.

कुलदीप यादव जो दूसरे टेस्ट मैच में प्रदर्शन करने में नाकामयाब थे उन्हे टीम से बाहर कर दिया गया है. यह काफी कड़ा फैसला है कि क्यूंकि स्पिनर को अपनी प्रतिभा दिखाने के लिए केवल एक ही पारी का समय मिला था. टीम मैनेजमेंट रविचंद्रन अश्विन और रवींद्र जडेजा की मौजूदगी से संतुष्ट है.

इन बदलावों के अलावा टीम में कोई बदलाव नहीं है. भुवनेश्वर कुमार की चोट के कारण वे बाहर हैं और दिनेश कार्तिक ने पहले दो मुकाबलों में खराब प्रदर्शन करके भी टीम में जगह बना रखी है. करूंन नायर और शार्दुल ठाकुर को अब तक खिलाया नहीं गया है पर वे टीम में शामिल हैं.

As anticipated, Indian selectors made drastic changes while selecting the squad for the 4^th and 5^th Test against England with the omission of Murali Vijay and inclusion of Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari being the highlights.

After a poor show in 2018, Vijay’s axing seemed preeminent but Prithvi Shaw’s inclusion in the squad was amusing as he was picked ahead of Mayank Agarwal. Both Shaw and Agarwal are scoring massive amount of runs in the first-class games but Agarwal has also remained a heavy scorer in Ranji tournaments in the recent seasons. However, the selectors backed the 18-year-old Shaw who led India to the U-19 world cup title earlier this year and has 4 centuries in his last 12 innings.

Vijay was touted as India’s best opener in the recent times but he is going through a lean patch in 2018. This axing has created serious questions over the 34-year old Tamil Nadu batsman’s Test career.

The selectors also rewarded Hanuma Vihari whose first-class batting average of 59.79 is the highest among all present-day cricketers. Vihari too is been racking big hundreds in first-class cricket and is one of India A’s highest run scorers.

Kuldeep Yadav who failed to make any mark in the second Test is also dropped from the team which may seem a bit of harsh decision as the spinner only got one innings to show his mettle. At the moment, the team management seems happy with the spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Apart from it, there are no changes in the Indian squad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s sustained injury has prevented him from being a part if the team while Dinesh Karthik has retained his position despite failing in the first two Tests. Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur too have been retained although they warmed the benches during the first three Tests.
