Joe Root’s masterclass at Leeds finally came to a class as Jasprit Bumrah managed to sneak past his defense to give India a much-needed respite. The England captain was finally dismissed for 121 but not before he had enthralled the home crowd with some exquisite display of batsmanship.
It all happened on the 2nd ball of the 118th over when Jasprit Bumrah got one to jag back into Joe Root. The ball stayed a tad low and proceeded to breach the defense of the English skipper, giving India their 6th wicket and a big one in the form of a rampant Root, who was looking impenetrable during his imperious 165-ball 121.

India vs England- Joe Root shatters more records as he continues his imperious form in 2021
Joe Root continued his imperious form in the calendar year as the England skipper smashed his 6th Test ton of the year The England captain, who had already smashed three hundred [including a double-ton] against India in 2021, racked up yet another 100-plus score against his favorite opponent.
The champion Yorkshire batsman has now scored more than 800 runs against India this year and his ton at Headingley is his 8th against the tourists. He is level with the likes of Steven Smith, Ricky Ponting, Viv Richards, and Gary Sobers as far as most Test hundreds against Team India is concerned.

Root saved England from a certain defeat in the first Test courtesy of a brilliant hundred in the 2nd innings at Trent Bridge; his ton at Lord’s ensured that England took a 27-run-lead in the first innings and but at Leeds, he easily played his best knock of the series so far as he completely dominated a beleaguered Indian bowling attack. By the time he was dismissed, he had well-and-truly done his job as England swelled their lead past the 300-run-mark.
