Former Indian cricketer Dilip Doshi has said that he would love to see Ravindra Jadeja in the next Test match. Doshi backed his opinion by stating that Jadeja bowls steady in the air and straight which can result in a lots of LBW’s.
Doshi who is regarded as one of India’s finest spinners was speaking with a newspaper when he opened up about India’s spin options in this ongoing Test series against England. He said that Jadeja is quicker through the air and hence has better chances of excelling and that’s why he wants to see him in the next Test.
The former Indian spinner also spoke about R Ashwin who has bowled well in this series. He stated that Ashwin has finally understood the importance of the off-break which is the stock ball for an off-spinner. The veteran spinner also advised that for a spinner, 98 % of the deliveries have to be the stock ball but Ashwin was bothering about his variations in the past.
Doshi who claimed 114 Test wickets for India wasn’t impressed with the idea of playing Kuldeep Yadav in Tests. He pointed out that Kuldeep bowls slow in the air which is the result of his non-bowling arm falling apart early in his stride and this makes him vulnerable in Tests.
According to Doshi, Kuldeep is currently too raw for Test cricket and he is a young kid who is still learning. Among all the current options available for India in the spin department, the former Indian spinner said that Jadeja should be a part of the next Test as due to the DRS he can get a lot of LBW’s.
The left-arm spinner also added that the quality of spin bowling has come down and he admitted that he was surprised to see batsmen finding it difficult to read spinners from the hands.
