The second Test match between England and India has been at its exciting best so far. While Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul dominated Day 1, English skipper Joe Root helped his team stage a great comeback in the next two days of the game to take a lead of 27 runs. With the match evenly poised at the moment, it is expected that fans will be up to thrilling final two days of the Test match at Lord’s cricket ground.

Joe Root reverse sweeps Mohammed Siraj for four

The English skipper Joe Root continued his red hot form and was at his classical best on the third day of the second Test match at Lord’s cricket ground. The right-handed batsman frustrated India’s bowlers and paced his knock to perfection, scoring runs all over the park to register his 22nd hundred in the longest format of the game.

The 30-year-old then went past 150 in the last session of play, looking in complete control of proceedings. During his innings, he also crossed 9000 run-mark in Test cricket and became the only second English player after Alastair Cook to achieve this feat.

With wickets kept tumbling at the other end, the English skipper took charge to Mohammad Siraj and brilliantly executed reversed sweep shot for four. The crowd went berserk after that shot applauded Joe Root with cheers.

ENG vs IND Live: What happened on the Day 3 of the Lord’s Test match? 

Resuming the innings on an overnight score of 119/3, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow gave a dream start to the hosts on Day 3 as they looked very comfortable at the crease and proceeded confidently and stitched up a well-compiled 121-run partnership. After the wicket of Bairstow, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali provided great support to skipper Root and made some valuable contributions.

Team India then in the last session made a brilliant comeback and nullified a chance of England taking a considerable lead. Pacers took the remaining five wickets and England were all out for 391 runs as the hosts managed a lead of 27 runs with Root remaining unbeaten on 180.
