CSK had a poor start to the season when they lost to Delhi Capitals in their season opener. But they bounced back strongly and won 5 matches in a row. Led by the master MS Dhoni, CSK looked a well oiled outfit and will be one of the favourites to lift the trophy this time. The number of quality allrounders in the side enabled them to bat deep and have plenty of bowling options too. By the time tournament got suspended, CSK were second on the points table.
· Batting Rating- 9/10
In 2021 IPL, CSK’s top order looked in ominous form and carried the team’s hopes. du Plessis and Gaikwad gave them quick starts at the top which allowed the middle order to play freely. Faf du Plessis leads the runs tally for his team with 320 runs at an average of 64. Despite Dhoni not at his best, Ravindra Jadeja took the responsibility to be the finisher.

Led by Indian captain Virat Kohli, RCB has always been a team of star players. Despite having a good team, they have been unable to lift the trophy so far. But in IPL 2021, they looked set for a place in the playoffs. After an improved season last year, they carried the confidence and won their initial four matches of this season. Though they lost 2 of their last 3 matches, they are still in a good position to reach the playoffs. RCB are third on the points table.

For RCB, Devdutt Padikkal looked in brilliant form at the top and gave the team good starts at the top. He also had a century to his name. Glenn Maxwell leads the run-charts for them this season with 223 runs at a strike rate of 145.

Last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals were having a fabulous tournament this year too. They have almost all the bases covered and a couple more wins would confirm their playoffs spot. Despite losing captain Shreyas Iyer before the start of the season, they have shown excellent skill and adaptability to perform consistently. DC were on top of the table before the tournament got suspended.
· Batting Rating- 9/10
Shikhar Dhawan continued his excellent IPL form from the last season. He was the top run-scorer overall with 380 runs at an average of 54. Prithvi Shaw gave him great company scoring 308 runs. Shaw’s strike rate of 166 was particularly impressive and allowed Delhi to get the momentum at the start of the innings. Apart from these two, Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer also played important cameos.
· Bowling Rating- 9/10
Probably the biggest surprise of this season was the performance of Avesh Khan. The fast bowler is the third highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in 8 games at a brilliant average of 16. Avesh was DC’s go-to bowler with the new ball as well as the death. Kagiso Rabada was expensive but picked up 8 wickets. Axar Patel was economical with his left-arm spin.
