Michael Vaughan gets trolled for his ‘Garbage’ remark

India has been at the receiving end of the backlashes and the criticism so far due to their below-par performance in the two Test matches against England.

However, they presented a thrilling display of redemption in the third Test match where they scored 329 in their first innings and bowled out England for 161 on Day 2.

While skipper Virat Kohli (97) and Ajinkya Rahane (81) took the lead with their bats, it was Hardik Pandya who shone with the ball.

Hardik Pandya returned with match figures of 6-1-28-5. Although the hosts got off to a good start by posting 54 runs for the opening stand, they couldn’t keep their momentum going and succumbed to Indian bowling and got reduced to 161 for 10 in the second session.

Michael Vaughan, who was the captain of the then-England team when India outplayed England in 2007 tweeted, “Lovely day for bowling as long as you well… So far India have bowled garbage… #ENGvsIND”

His ‘garbage’ remark drew the ire of Twitterati.

England are currently leading the series by 2-0 after winning the first Test at Edgbaston by 31 runs and the following one at Lord’s by an innings and 159 runs.

The third Test match at Trent Bridge is seeming in India’s favour so far. Vaughan also expressed his concerns after England crumbled on 161. He wrote on his Twitter handle, “I was looking forward to seeing England bat today under the pressure of a bit scorecard pressure.. They haven’t handled it well for a long while and showed us today it is still a huge concern.. ENGvIND”

England will look forward to making a comeback on Day 3 whereas India will hope to continue its dominance to make the scoreline 2-1. At the end of day 2, India are playing at 124/2 in 31 overs where Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli are batting on 33 and 8 respectively. Team India is currently leading by 292 runs.
