Aditi Ashok is a Bangalore-born Indian professional golfer. She plays on the Ladies European Tour and LPGA tour. In 2017, Aditi became the first LPGA player from India, finishing eighth in the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year standings. She was conferred with the Arjuna Award in 2020.

Aditi Ashok was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, on 29 March 1988. She graduated from the Frank Anthony Public School. Her father introduced her to golf when she was five years old by taking her to a driving range after noticing that the green course at Karnataka Golf Association sparked an interest in her in the sport.

From the lush greens of Bangalore to the ranges in Europe, Aditi Ashok now hopes to inspire people worldwide through her story as a professional golfer from India.

Career

After winning the Lalla Aicha Tour School in 2016, Aditi Ashok secured herself a Ladies European Tour card for that year. That same year she became the first Indian woman to clinch the Women’s India Open title!  She is the only Indian golfer to compete at Asian Youth Games, Youth Olympics, Asian Games, and Olympics.

Olympics 2020

Aditi qualified for her second Summer Games at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics based on rankings released in June 2021. In the Rio Olympics, she finished tied at 41st place.

Her father is Pandit Gudlaani Ashok. She had her father caddie for her in the Rio Olympics. This year in Tokyo, it is her mother who is on the bag.

“I think when my dad’s there he knows my game a lot more, probably sometimes more than I know myself, so I always feel compelled to rely on him sometimes. My mom’s there, I can ask her anything, but in terms of like golf advice she may not be able to help me as much as my dad. I guess I’m committing to my decisions more and being more decisive on my own.” Aditi told golfchannel.com.
