AB de Villiers was born on 17 February 1984 in Bela-Bela, South Africa. His father, a doctor, played rugby in his youth, and he encouraged his son to play sports. The batting sensation has revealed that he wants to play in the IPL for a few more seasons. He is probably India’s most favorite foreign cricketer.

“Playing in the IPL, having broken one record or two, playing in front of the crowd, and realizing that my teammates are also in awe. I have the privilege of experiencing those moments once or twice, maybe three or four times,” the South African superstar said in a live Instagram session.

In the first edition of IPL, Delhi Daredevils bought him for INR 1.2 crores. His price steadily grew to INR 1.4 crores by 2010. In the 2011 auction, RCB purchased his services for INR 5 crores. Between 2014 and 2017, AB earned INR 9.5 crores.

He became one of the richest foreign cricketers in 2018 when his value grew to INR 11 crores. The Bengaluru-based outfit retained him for the same price in 2019 and 2020. In total, AB de Villiers has earned more than INR 100 crore while playing in the IPL.
