England vs India 1st Test: The stage is all set and the biggest moment of the summer has finally arrived as England take on India in the first of the five Test matches in Nottingham starting from 4 August. This ENG vs IND five-match Test series will also mark the beginning of the 2021-23 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
Nottingham Weather Update for Day 1
The weather and overhead conditions have always played a significant role when Test cricket is being played in England. The big India vs New Zealand World Test Championship Final as well as the two Test matches between England and the Kiwis witnessed a lot of rain interruptions earlier this summer. However, the weather forecast for Day 1 of the Nottingham Test match looks pretty much clear as the rain gods are expected to stay away for the whole day. But it will be cloudy with the average temperature being 20 degree Celsius.

The sun is expected to be out for a short passage of time at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Wednesday but there will be enough help for the fast bowlers. The pitch on Day 1 of the Test match will surely be challenging for the batsmen but a lot will depend on how much grass is left on the surface.

Surprisingly, India captain Virat Kohli has decided to reveal the playing XI during the toss. While most of the line-up looks quite obvious but there are questions regarding who will open the batting with Rohit Sharma as there is a toss up between KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran. It will be also be interesting to see whether Mohammed Siraj is included in the India playing XI or not. On the other hand, England’s balance has also taken a massive blow in the absence of Ben Stokes. The big query remains that whether the hosts with play a spinner or go in with an all-pace attack.
