Elavenil Valarivan is an Indian professional shooter who competes in the 10m Air Rifle event. The reigning World No.1 started her journey as a sprinter but took a liking to shooting when introduced to the sport by a friend. She was always interested in athletics.

Elavenil grew up in Ahmedabad and holds a B.A degree in English Literature. She came to the fore in 2018, when she won three gold medals in two separate ISSF Junior World Cups. Elavenil is 21 years old. She was born on 2 August 1999.

Elavenil hails from Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu.
Elavenil Valarivan Father
Her father is Valarivan Ruthrapathy. He is a scientist and an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Elavenil Valarivan Family
Both her parents are Ph.D. scholars. Her mother is a teacher. They were very encouraging of whatever she chose to do. Ereivan, her brother, is a Captain in the Indian Army. He is also very supportive of her career.

Elavenil Valarivan World Record
Apurvi Chandela had shot 252.9 in the New Delhi World Cup in 2019 to claim the world record. Elavenil beat her compatriot’s score by shooting 253 to win the T3 national selection trials held on Thursday, 8 July.
Elavenil Valarivan Olympics
She is a part of a 15-member Indian shooting contingent heading towards Tokyo. Along with Apurvi Chandela, she will also participate in the Women’s 10 m air rifle event. The ace shooter will be aiming high and bidding to emulate the success of Abhinav Bindra and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
