England hand India a hammering at the Home of Cricket
In the second Test match at Lord’s, England continued to dominate India by winning the match. The Root-led team had their ninth win over India (in England) this decade (4-0 in 2011, 3-1 in 2014) making it even more embarrassing for the visiting team. England squad made good use of the favourable conditions and was successful in bowling India out on cheaply in both the innings. As a result, India lost the Test by a big margin of an innings and 159 runs and thus trail the series by 0-2.
The match result was not seen as a good sign by many former cricketers. Sachin Tendulkar, God of Cricket also shared his own opinion on the same. He tweeted in which he praised the pace duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad. He also applauded Chris Woakes for his all-round performance and wished team India to make a comeback.

An all-round performance by England. Excellent spells of fast bowling by @jimmy9 and @StuartBroad8, with a fine performance by @chriswoakes. We’ve got to pull up our socks and produce better cricket India. #ENGvIND

ANDERSON, WOAKES PERFORMED REMARKABLY
James Anderson took a total of nine wickets in the match, comprising five in the first and four wickets in the second innings respectively. The Lancashire bowler en-route to 550 Test wickets registered match figures of 9-43. Broad, who managed to take only one wicket in first innings, made a great comeback and in the next innings sent four batsmen back to the pavilion. His list included Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik. All-rounder Woakes made a comeback to the Test team, and continued his remarkable form at the ‘home of cricket’. In addition to an unbeaten ton, he also took four wickets and did not let England feel the absence of Ben Stokes at any time. For the third match, India should work and plan strategies to avoid defeats in the upcoming matches.
The third Test of the series will be played in Nottingham from August 18.
